Marin Vesely is an artist and geopolitical researcher from Los Angeles, CA. She collaborates with artists, researchers, and cultural leaders from diverse backgrounds to create emergent frameworks for storytelling, including immersive documentaries, audiovisual performance, installation, and sculpture. Marin is a co-founder of the artist collective "Love Death Design," which was awarded the 2021 Unity for Humanity Grant by Unity Technologies with support from the UN Environmental Program and Project Drawdown for their virtual reality documentary about urban oil drilling and environmental racism. Marin's work has been featured at festivals such as Sundance, Mozilla Festival, SIGGRAPH, and Gray Area Festival. Recently, she has been investigating her Brazilian roots and expanding her research on extractivism. As a result, Marin was awarded a 2023 Fulbright Scholarship for her proposed research, which will examine the impacts of mining on rural communities in Ouro Preto, Brazil. Through her work, Marin aims to create meaningful connections between different cultures and communities while addressing critical social and environmental issues.
