Water drops hit our sensor surface, sounds rumble out and lights flash, conveying the storm. Red Sprites occur during intense thunderstorms that create a gulf in charge strong enough to rip electrons through the ionoshpere down to the troposhpere, reconsiling the discrepancy. Some people describe this phenomenom visually as a giant red jellyfish flashing briefly in the sky between the storm and the stars. Sprites glow warmly at their cap and spark in frayed strings towards the tendrils that reach down to the clouds below.
