Pocket forets are ecosystems that accumulate carbon, reduce water runoff, create healthy soil, and provide a foundation for an abundance of life. Portland has 27.6 square miles of parking lot and off-street asphalt area—perhaps we can depave some of that and turn them into pocket forests!
