Palmarin Merges is an artist whose work draws from the desire to become more sustainable by re-using materials close at hand and by adapting restriction as a generative force for creation. Currently, their work is playing in and around Concrete Poetry and incorporating junk mail, plastic and other household waste into objects, toys and artist books. As a Filipina-American in Japan, they hope their imperfect knowledge of Ilokano and Japanese lead to a child-like manipulation of language resulting in playful and humorous results of Concrete Poetry.
