Dr. Douglas Hanes is a Principal of Étale, LLC with experience leading quantitative and qualitative research projects, writing and presenting methods and results, and facilitating targeted learning of technical concepts among adult learners and professionals. He has extensive expertise designing inclusive community surveys and research, carrying out evaluation, analysing data, and preparing summaries, reports and presentations of complex materials for a diversity of audiences. Dr. Hanes has significant experience authoring literature reviews and peer-reviewed journal articles, as well as summaries and reports. He has designed and mentored ethical and inclusive survey design and focus groups, including a survey of empathy towards patients. Dr. Hanes conducts grant- and industry-funded health research at the Helfgott Research Institute and formerly at Legacy Health, helps to oversee evaluations of a joint NUNM-University of Washington NIH-funded training grant, and manages research ethics and conflicts of interest as the university’s Research Integrity Officer. He has managed, mentored, and trained faculty as Chair of the Master’s in Research program, mentored a number of student projects, and facilitated training in mathematics, data analysis and research for NUNM, Helfgott, Make+Think+Code and the University of Minnesota. Douglas will contribute to production of summary background research and reports, presentation of findings in response to commission needs; development and implementation of inclusive surveys and focus groups; facilitation toward consensus and for community participation in creating priorities and policy using a modified electronic delphi process; and evaluations of CC work.
